Student life at Redeemer School offers an enriching and unique educational experience that encourages students to participate in a wide variety of activities from athletics, to chapel activities, to milestone field trips, to performing arts.

Athletics

Our sports program is an opportunity for students in 3rd-8th grades to participate in team athletics. Redeemer is a member of the Redwood City League. At Redeemer, we emphasize an “everybody plays” rule for all students trying a sport.

Our athletics department is dedicated to fostering a holistic sports experience that transcends competition. The primary goal is to cultivate athletes who exemplify Christian values in their personal growth, sportsmanship and teamwork. Through skill development and training, we aim to equip our athletes with the tools to excel in their chosen sports while upholding the principles of fair play, humility, integrity and respect.

Student life at Redeemer is rooted in Christian values, where they have opportunities to participate in weekly chapel services, band and choir, community service activities and other Christian studies. Additionally, Redeemer strongly emphasizes the values of Character, Intellect, and Faith; meaning that students are taught the importance of Respect, Ownership, Attitude, and Responsibility (“ROAR”) within the context of scripture and applying it to everyday life.

The Junior Praise Team (4th-5th) and Youth Praise Team (6th-8th) are Redeemer’s two choir programs, where students learn to lead songs at weekly Friday chapels.

Tech Team

Redeemer’s Tech Team offers middle schoolers the opportunity to have hands-on experience providing all technical support of music, slides, lights, and sound for all school chapel services and school assemblies.

Milestone Field Trips

Redeemer field trips provide a dynamic extension to the academic program by immersing students in real-world learning environments. These outings foster hands-on experiences that deepen understanding and retention of classroom concepts. Through interactive exploration, students can grasp the practical applications of their studies and develop a well-rounded perspective on the subjects they’re learning.

Producers and Consumers: 2nd Grade

This field trip brings early economics concepts to life for young learners, helping them identify the difference between Producers and Consumers, Wants and Needs, and Goods and Services, as part of their Social Studies curriculum. To take the knowledge they have learned in the classroom and apply it in the real world, students walk from school to Whole Foods Market and purchase items to make a complete meal. They are introduced to primary financial literacy skills by creating a grocery list, tracking the price of those items, locating them in the store, and using their knowledge of adding with regrouping to figure out the final cost of their meal.

California Gold Rush: 4th Grade

United States history comes alive on an unforgettable adventure to 1854 with characters out of the California Gold Rush time period. Pan for gold in the South Fork of the American River with a local miner. Follow a Native American woman to learn her native culture and traditions. Play with foreign settlers as they challenge you to games from their homelands. On our overnight program, you will learn the ways of true pioneer people, through candle-making, cooking, rope tying, sewing and more. In the evenings, we’ll gather around the campfire for singing, dancing, stories and worship before retreating to our campsites. This living history experience creates life-long memories through fun and faith in the middle of God’s creation.

Outdoor Ed: 6th Grade

Redeemer’s Outdoor Ed program bolsters excellent academics in science by offering students direct engagement with the natural world. Through hands-on activities like field studies and ecological observations, students can witness scientific principles in action, fostering a deeper comprehension of concepts taught in the classroom. This immersive approach not only sparks curiosity but also encourages critical thinking and a profound appreciation for the intricacies of nature.

Washington D.C.: 8th Grade

Redeemer’s Washington D.C. trip holds a special place due to its unparalleled opportunity for students to connect with government and history. Exploring iconic landmarks such as the Capitol, Arlington Cemetery, Smithsonian museums and numerous historic monuments allows students to witness their lessons come alive. This immersive experience cultivates a sense of civic engagement, fosters a deeper understanding of the nation’s heritage and creates lasting memories far beyond the classroom.

Performing Arts

Redeemer’s commitment to fostering creativity is exemplified by its exceptional musical productions, such as “Annie Jr.”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Into the Woods”, “The Little Mermaid” and an adaptation of “Hamilton”, which showcases the talents of our students and their dedication to self-expression and teamwork. These productions are the culmination of months of collaborative effort, bringing the entire school community together to celebrate the magic of the performing arts.

Redeemer recognizes the vital role that artistic education plays in developing well-rounded individuals. Art, music and the performing arts offers a platform for students to build self-confidence, refine communication skills and unlock imagination. Every class from K-5th grade puts on an annual production. In addition, our Middle School puts on an annual end-of-year musical.
